Andary Dance
In 2001, Nathan Andary established Andary Dance and since then has performed internationally and nationwide including: Chicago, New York City, Washington D.C., Boston, Providence, Connecticut, Kentucky and many other places. Serving as Artistic Director Nathan Andary builds multimedia dance performances pairing forms of both fine and performance arts and performs the striking and complex choreography. The remarkable dancers who comprise Andary Dance have an extensive and impressive dance history that support the choreographic vision. Nathan's work has received support from: The Center for Performance Research, The Berwick Research Institute, The Movement Laboratory, AS220, World Music/CRASHARTS, Mobius Arts, Juddertone, Green Street Studio, Fusionworks Dance, The Collective, Island Moving Company, Groundwerx Dance Theater, Rhode Island College, Providence College, and Ashland Youth Ballet Company.


Mission

Andary Dance is dedicated to the creative and innovative advancement of post modern dance and the arts by building interdisciplinary dance performances accessing all forms of both fine and performance arts. The Company's mission is to seek new ways to broaden the definition

of dance through exploration of movement and its beginnings.



Artistic Director: Nathan Andary; CMA
Andary Dance is under the artistic direction of award winning choreographer, Nathan Andary. Andary is a 2 time recipient of the prestigious Merit Award for Choreography from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA). Andary also received funding from Toyota, Massachusetts Cultural Council, NG Systems, and other sponsors for his collaborative work in making dance accessible while maintaining high artistic and teaching standards. Nathan was born in Kentucky and received his BFA/Dance from Ohio University, his certification as a movement analyst, and his MFA in Dance from the University of Maryland. Nathan danced for Liz Lerman, Pearson + Widrig, the Salt Creek Ballet Company in Chicago, Fusionworks Repertory Dance of Rhode Island, KitsuneBUTOH of Boston, and the world renowned Katsura Kan. Nathan's work explores the spatial connections to movement in/through/with the body and its environment. His work is a symbiotic fusion of Laban, Body-mind-centering, Yoga, theater and Release techniques riding the support of breath and the spiral of the spine. Nathan has taught at the University of Maryland, Boston University, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence College, Rhode Island College, University of Rhode Island, Ohio University and his teachings and choreographic works have taken him internationally, and throughout the country.
